Scripture for today: John 8:7
I can’t sing or play an instrument, but I love music. My iPod is blaring most of the time. One of my favorite groups is Point of Grace. I love the exactness of the lyrics to one of their songs, “the more I know the Lord, the more I know I’ve got no stones to throw.”
As women we often put ourselves in the judgment seat. It ain’t always pretty being female! We notice things like hair, makeup, clothes, and hygiene. Before we know it, we’ve passed a non-verbal judgment. The song by Point of Grace reminds me that I haven’t lived a sin-free life and, therefore, I have no room to pass judgment or throw stones. The more I know the nature and character of God, the more aware I become that I am not all that.
I believe that being a single mom has made me more compassionate and a lot slower to judge. Once you’ve entered a season in your life where you are out of your comfort zone, it’s amazing what God will show you if you’ll just let Him. God desires for us to minister to hurting people. We can’t do that if we’re too busy judging them.
This week, find someone that simply needs a friend or a break from every day living. Be a friend. Be compassionate. Put away the stones—no judging—and be Jesus in flesh to someone. I promise you’ll be blessed!
End today with a personal prayer time with God, asking Him to show you who needs your attention this week.
